Meet the Team at Firm Foundations

Arghawan Karimi - ECE with a Decade of Expertise

Arghawan Karimi is a passionate Early Childhood Educator from Afghanistan, who moved to Burnaby, British Columbia, at the age of 11. As the eldest of four siblings, Arghawan has always been a nurturing and loving figure, taking care of her younger siblings and others from an early age.
In 2016, she pursued her dream of working with children by studying Early Childhood Education at Vancouver Career College. Over the past decade, Arghawan has built a fulfilling career in this field. She began as a manager at a home-based daycare and then joined CEFA Early Learning, where she spent eight years as a senior teacher, guiding children from infancy through preschool.

In January 2024, Arghawan took a significant step in her career by opening her own childcare center. This venture allows her to implement a unique curriculum that reflects her experiences and philosophy of education. Arghawan believes that the foundation of all development in children is rooted in love, trust, and fun. Her goal is to create a safe space where children can be themselves, feel acknowledged, and thrive. Outside of her professional life, Arghawan enjoys hiking, nature walks, and discovering new parks. She is also an avid podcast listener. Balancing her career and passions, Arghawan is a dedicated mother to two beautiful children—a toddler and a kindergartener—who keep her and her husband on their toes. A fun fact about Arghawan is that she is left-handed, which makes handling scissors a daily challenge in her occupation, but she embraces it with a smile. Arghawan continues to inspire those around her, championing a loving and enriching environment for all children.

Mission

Our mission is to introduce creative ways to enhance a child’s emotional wellbeing because we believe this is the foundation of all developmental areas. Every child is unique and has their own way of learning and understanding their world around them, yet they are all familiar to one thing, which is love. When a child feels warmth, heard and acknowledged, they become responsive and eager to learn and thrive in all stages of life. We are a child led program that caters to the child’s needs through Reggio-Emilia approach and learning through play. Our program is set to develop and enhance a child’s five developmental domains such as, social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language.
